Xeomin® is one of the newest FDA approved products that can be used for diminishing the look of fine lines and wrinkles on the face. BOTOX® Cosmetic and Xeomin® are both members of the same family and both are great at reducing the appearance of aging. They work the same by relaxing the muscles that create wrinkles, and they are measured in the same units so you will be getting the same amount of product in each treatment.

So, what are the differences between BOTOX® Cosmetic and Xeomin®?

While they are so similar, they do have some differences to mention.

• Xeomin® is composed of pure BTA, without any additional proteins. Where BOTOX® Cosmetic is a combination of BTA with added proteins to enhance it’s anti-aging properties.
• The lack of additional fillers in Xeomin® makes it least likely for individuals to develop a resistance to the treatment, as seen with BOTOX® Cosmetic in the past.
• By the same token, Xeomin® not having any additional proteins is also less likely to cause an allergic reaction.

There have been studies to report that Xeomin® lasts longer, or works faster than BOTOX® Cosmetic. However, neither of these facts have been proven and most of these studies were truly inconclusive.
