Treatments like Restylane and Juvéderm Aren’t just for Women

Dermal filler treatments like Restylane and Juvéderm are gaining popularity among men, in spite of the fact that they were previously regarded as a feminine skin solution to aging.

According to the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, just a few years ago many more men were opting for Botox Cosmetic injections than they do now. Since 2013 an increasing number of men have turned instead to dermal fillers to minimize lines and wrinkles and both physically and visually combat the signs of creeping age.

Now almost as many men opt for dermal filler treatments as women.

About Restylane and Juvéderm

Restylane and Juvéderm are two of the most popular filler treatments available, both effectively used to fill in wrinkles and facial lines, and smooth the skin. Juvéderm, an FDA-approved gel filler, is one of the best dermal fillers on the market for adding volume to the cheek and lips. It also minimizes folds and mini trenches that form between the corners of the mouth and bottom of the nose. It’s also a great remedy for sunken skin and tear troughs under the eyes. Restylane does much the same, but is a particularly popular product for plumping out and adding substance to the lips, particularly since it is approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for this purpose.

Restylane and Juvéderm for Men

Both Juvéderm and Restylane are made from hyaluronic acid (HA), which is found naturally in the skin. A skin moisturizer, HA bonds with water and, in this way, is able to rejuvenate and rehydrate the skin – particularly facial skin and skin on the neck and hands.

Juvéderm generally lasts at least nine months, and Restylane quite a lot longer, up to 18 months provided a touch-up treatment is given a few months after the initial treatment.

Restylane and Juvéderm for Men

The reality is that men do age faster than women, and their skin tends to thin out more rapidly. And ironically, when men do all they can to stay fit while they age, they often look a lot older than they are. That craggy look can sometimes be attractive, but deep grooves and furrows also make men look tired and cranky.

Dermal fillers can be used to minimize not only wrinkles and ugly lines, but also of jowls, making men look considerably healthier. A dermal filler treatment can also be used to sharpen the jawline and fill out cheekbones slightly from the lower eyelids, effectively providing a mini, non-surgical facelift.
